My abstract visual compositions poetically elude language and transcend it. In my paintings, I am looking for the radiance of color that holds a picture together. The world of colors knows many orders. The paintings are either small-scale and concentrated or large-scale, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the color space. I paint mainly in two formats: small paintings at 30x30 cm and large ones at 150x150 cm.
I perceive the existing orders of the world in depth and respond with images that are clearly structured. With the help of basic geometric structures, color is playfully liberated from form.
In these chromatic studies on canvas or paper, I explore color moods from the most diverse areas of culture from paintings by old masters such as Fra Angelico or the current fashion colors of Dries Van Noten (Spring Summer 2024) to colors drawn from the direct experience of everyday life and the observation of nature.
For me, the inner light of colors transcends eras and styles and lives within me like an infinite radiance. Thus, an inner archive of colors arises, enabling me to use colors intuitively and thereby do justice to the image.
